Fall Florals Are So On Trend When thinking of floral prints, you typically think of light colors and spring in the air, right? Well, change that thinking for this fall season. Floral prints have made a splash on the fall runways in the best way. The fall floral prints we are seeing this season are taking floral prints and adding a little grunge to them. They aren’t the light colors of spring; they have a darker color palette to flow with the season. There are so many ways you can incorporate fall florals into your wardrobe so you can look like you just walked off the runway this season. From layers to tops and bottoms, or accessories, there are so many floral trends you don’t want to miss out on. One of the easiest ways to incorporate a floral print into your wardrobe is with a layering piece. Floral kimonos and jackets are a great way to add some print and texture to your fall outfits. Picking neutral base pieces with a flowy, floral kimono is an easy way to achieve a runway look. The layers give you the feeling of fall while the floral print really ties in that trend. Kimonos are also lightweight, making them a great layer for those states (like mine) that truly don’t get fall weather until mid-fall. For the edgy girl, a floral bomber jacket is another great way to add floral prints to your outfits. A floral bomber will show you are keeping up with the season’s latest trends. Bomber jackets are so sassy and the floral print will add some texture to your basic fall outfit. Another easy way to bring florals into your closet this fall is with a floral top or skirt. A simple floral top that would look great with jeans is an easy way to stay up with the trends this fall. The darker colors of fall florals will make sure your outfit matches the season. Designers are doing the floral tops many ways this season. For girly girls, a floral blouse is so on trend. For the girls with a little sass, a major trend is sheer tops with floral appliques. A floral skirt is another great way to add some floral print while still keeping that girly essence. The dark colors will keep you in the fall season but the skirt design is a little more free and flirty. Choosing a floral print for a base piece makes it easy to style the rest of your outfit. Pair your floral print with a neutral color and simple earrings and you have a great fall look for day or night! My favorite way to add in floral prints is probably in my accessories. Accessories can make or break an outfit. They are also the best way to add some fun to your outfits. Purses and shoes are an easy way to add some color or incorporate a trend. Wearing a neutral outfit with an awesome floral print purse has me drooling this season! Statement purses are some of my favorite accessories so why not use them as a chance to incorporate a fall floral print. Floral print shoes or booties are another way to add some floral print to your outfits. Floral shoes will have you looking like you walked straight from the fashion week runways. Another accessory that isn’t technically floral print but will add that floral essence, are flower earrings. A beautiful flower stud can add that same floral feeling to an outfit without an overpowering floral print. Accessories are such an easy element to play around with in your outfits; don’t be afraid to try out some florals with your accessories this season! Floral prints are no longer just for spring and summer with light, airy colors. Fall florals have made their presence known this season with their edgy color palettes. The colors of these prints are truly what differentiate these florals from the floral prints we will see when spring comes around. Bringing these fall florals into your wardrobe is just as easy as in spring. A lot of times we think of pieces as just being able to be worn in one season, but with layering in mind, you can incorporate pieces into your fall wardrobe from all year ‘round. Sleeveless tops and tanks that you wore freely all summer long are now the perfect tops to layer up when the cold weather comes around! Here are the best ways to layer your outfits this fall season. When layering, it’s easiest to establish your base outfit first. This is a great way to transition into fall. I always start by picking out my top and bottom first no matter if I’m in the mood for a top and jeans or a skirt and cute tank. Once I pick out my base two pieces, then starts the fun! If I am wearing a short sleeve or sleeveless top I tend to layer with something a little heavier. This fall season, chunky sweater cardigans and denim jackets are super in style for a warmer layer. If the weather isn’t too cold, then a light utility jacket is another popular layer for this season. Another easy and stylish light layer is a kimono. You can wear a solid kimono is your outfit already has some pattern. If your outfit is solid, basic colors then pick out a fun, printed kimono to add some texture! Next, for the layering accessories! Scarves are obviously the first thing that comes to mind with layering and rightfully so. Scarves are so easy to style and the best thing to keep you warm. As the weather transitions and it’s still warm, a light scarf is perfect to throw on with your fall outfit. When it starts getting colder, then pair your outfits with a chunky sweater scarf. You can also accessories with a cute cable knit beanie! Another accessory I love is a plaid flannel button up. I know what you’re thinking. A top as an accessory? Well, being from Alabama, we don’t get cool weather for a while in fall. So, I have my cute daytime outfit with lighter pieces to keep cool and tie a plaid flannel around my waist. Then at night when it does get a little cooler, then I already have the perfect layer tied around my waist! Everyone knows that fall means boots and booties! To me, that just means another great way to add a layer. I love pairing my short booties with some cute socks to peak out the top. Over the knee boots are also a great way to layer and keep your legs cool while you’re rocking a skirt! Tall boots are also great to wear with jeans or leggings to keep your legs fully covered on the really cold days! Layers are essential to staying warm, but you can still be so fashionable! It is also a great way to get the optimal wear out of your closet. Don’t just wear those tanks in summer; layer them up for the fall transition! Now that we’ve given you some tips for staying warm and layering this season, give it a try! And don’t be afraid to think outside of the box this season! Especially for the fashion lovers, fashion forecasting and seeing how history repeats itself by reintroducing trends in an entirely new way is just pretty cool. Plus, knowing what’s in style right now comes in handy, as unexpected events pop up all the time and you don’t want to stick out in an outdated outfit! So we’re going to go over a few fashion highlights from this season focusing specifically on women’s tops, as top styles have become a dominant force in the fashion world these days with more designs available than any other apparel product! Trendy women’s tops come in all shapes and styles, and we take a look into the best fashion trends and latest looks so far this year, and then sneak a peek into the upcoming trendy women’s top fashions for fall 2018! Trendy Top StylesTrendy women’s tops often feature a popular fashion trend that’s common across each style type, but there are two leading trends this year that are across the board and can be found on every top style out there.
- The front ties are usually found at the hem and are just a stylish feature, but some styles tie in the middle and are functional, like the crop top shown above in black.
- Tie front tops are cute and stylish and definitely add the statement detail that takes your outfit to the next level!
- You can find many mock wrap styles where a top is essentially made to look like it wraps, but the fabric is actually sewn to the inside side seams and the side tie is just an added feature. These styles are easier to throw on and go since you don’t have to fuss with adjusting the fit every time you wear it. It is hard to distinguish whether a top is a true wrap or a mock wrap, which is a good thing because why not have a closet full of both styles?
- True wraps are functional and can be found on knit tops to fine blouses and usually tie on the left side of the waist. Some styles, like the stripe blouse in the picture below, wrap and tie in the back. Wrap tops are chic and sophisticated and look flattering on all body types. We can’t complain about the popularity of this fashion trend!
- Another great feature about wrap tops is the hemline, as asymmetric hems are also a trendy style this year. Whether an angled or rounded corner design, both look amazing and add a little overlap flair to your outfit.
Your everyday basics and even your classic top designs can have a trendy twist to them, and we’ve caught on to a few different looks that take your easy wearing tops to must have trendy pieces.
- We took the side slit trend fashion up a notch and styled our white tee with a distressed denim midi skirt, platform slide sandals and druzy drop earrings for the perfect day-to-night outfit! Also pictured above, we took the latte-colored one and opted for a pair of cuffed distressed denim shorts, wedges and beaded choker for an outfit you can where to a festival or to lunch with friends. A couple of different looks you can get with a stylish and trendy side slit top!
T-shirt styles for women are currently all about taking your everyday tee and turning it into a trendy fashion.
- Styling graphic tees is more than just throwing on with a pair of shorts, although you definitely could do so, but you’ll see styles ranging from front tucking into a denim skirt to wearing under a cute pair of overalls. Rockin’ your trendy graphic tee in an outfit that wows is the look you want to go for when putting an outfit together. The graphic tee is a statement on its own and we have embraced the look and can’t get enough!
Shoulders, sleeves and buttons, oh my! Trendy top styles you must have in your closet this season include fun variations of exposed shoulders, sleeve detail and button up fronts.
- Cold shoulder tops kicked off the exposed shoulder trend, which in return quickly brought the off shoulder style into the fashion scene. The cold shoulder trend has died down a little, in comparison to the off shoulder look; however, the cold shoulder design has updated a bit and consists of large open shoulder designs that essentially drape below the shoulder and down the arm. This gives that coveted flowy look and adds sleeve detail that is also on trend.
- Off shoulder tops are more popular than they’ve even been before, or at least it seems that way. There are many types of off shoulder designs that include smocking, fabric overlay, ruffles and tie sleeves just to name a few. The mass appeal to this trend even in the cooler seasons doesn’t seem to be dying down soon either! If you are looking to update your closet the #1 trendy top to add to your selection should be an off shoulder design hands down!
This year’s trendy tank styles are all about fun necklines and hemlines, plus a little back detail and cutouts if you want to add a little edge to your outfit.
- Not all tanks are long and billowy however, as there are many flowy crop tanks that are just as trendy and fashion-forward. You still get that wispy look in a shorter length, which pair perfectly with high waist bottoms!
- Baby doll style tanks fall hand-in-hand with the flowy silhouette due to the same effect made with a drop empire, or baby doll, waistline. An easy-wearing and popular top style in general is a baby doll top, and a baby doll tank is just as stylish and on trend.
- Another hemline trend we’re seeing is a double-layered hem. An extra layer of fabric shorter then the layer underneath adds even more flowy movement and chic style.
- From V-backs to keyhole cutouts to cross back straps and lace-up styles too, you have tons of different designs to choose from that are trendy and fashion forward.
- As we mentioned above, layering stylish bralettes underneath are a great way to change up your look or add a touch of softness or edge to your outfit. This trend is not just for spring and summer but for fall and winter too, as you saw last year’s twist back sweater everywhere you went! We are predicting this open back design will continue into fall and are excited to see the different style variations that make it onto the scene this year.
Trendy Top Colors & PrintsSo far this year, we’ve seen the leading Pantone colors for Spring/Summer 2018 across all clothing styles and balanced with a palette of soft summer neutrals. In addition to the mix, we’ve also seen a considerable number of styles with a rainbow of colorful hues in one hot look! Trendy women’s tops start with the colors of the season and this summer’s vibrant shades of cherry tomato red, meadowlark mustard and all shades of pink lavender and ultra violet have been especially popular.

How to Create a Killer Resume and Job Interview Tips From a Hiring Manager at Trendy Women's Clothing Boutique Via How to Create a Killer Resume and Job Interview Tips From a Hiring Manager at Trendy Women's Clothing Boutique On the job hunt? Get your resume ready with a little help from a hiring manager and interview tips & tricks you never knew!Let’s be honest- writing a professional resume and preparing for an intimidating interview isn’t very fun. Sure, there might be someone out there who jumps out of bed in the morning excited to prove their worth to a potential employer and doesn’t fret about possibly being let down. Kudos to those positive people out there! For everyone else, it is easy to get discouraged by not knowing what to expect or even where to start when it comes to job hunting. This article is for those individuals, who want a little insight into what hiring managers are actually looking for in a potential candidate and how to characterize that persona into an impressive resume that will ultimately yield an interview. So, from a hiring manager at one of the most popular women's clothing boutiques, I reveal general tips and tricks to get you ready to land your dream job in no time! PART I: CREATING YOUR RESUMEYour resume is basically your life performance, list of credentials and overall summery of who you are on a piece of paper. It is really important that your resume is visually appealing, professionally written and provides all the information an employer would want to know about you. Yeah, pretty intimidating if you ask me. Where do you even start? Let’s break it up into parts: #1- Format & Template: There are many templates out there these days that you can download for free straight from the Internet. Modern day designs are much more influential than the outdated ones that you can probably find already on your computer, as they show that you are a creative individual and up-to-date with latest decade (lol). Now, you don’t want to go too wild and crazy but you do want to stand out from the all the other applicants. A modern, streamlined resume that is visually appealing, clearly organized and easy to read with a basic 10-12 point font is best. Most employers are looking for quality not quantity… you know that catchy little phrase; same thing goes with resumes too. You want to try to keep your resume the length of 1 page if you have little to no work experience; 2 would be fine, as long as it was outlined in a way where it made sense and seemed purposeful. The more experience you have however, the longer your resume will be and that is expected. #2- Content: What you write matters. Most hiring managers have looked through thousands of resumes in their lifetime and nothing gives them a good kick like reading how “talking on the phone” is one of your special skills. As entertaining as it can be however, it usually sends you straight to the “no” pile. You don’t want to include irrelevant information just to fill space or make it look like you have extra credentials when that’s not necessarily the case. And that’s actually not a bad thing. Managers look for individuals who are honest and have good integrity and sometimes prefer a less-experienced candidate who isn’t set in his/her ways to bring something fresh and new to the table. Your overall goal here is to be precise, professional and honest. Just be you, the best version of you as you can be on paper. You want to keep things streamlined & simple so you easily get the point across. Make sure to include dates, names and locations for your occupational and educational history in reverse chronological order (starting with present day). High school and college students as well as those fresh out of college should list your high school as an education; however, from then on you should just list the college(s) you attended to keep things relevant.
#3- Finalizing your Resume If there is one thing out of all these tips you will want to remember, it’s this: PROOFREAD your resume! A resume with spelling or grammatical errors is automatically disregarded, as the employer will assume you are lazy and/or not serious about being professional. Especially with technology these days, if someone can’t bother to fix the green and red squiggles underlining the errors, why bother with an interview? It helps to have someone read over it to catch any grammatical or spelling errors you might have missed as well as give feedback as to anything that might be unclear or worded funny. If you are submitting your resume as an attachment via email or company website, you MUST make sure it is in PDF format so it is viewable on any device. There are many circumstances where the employer can’t open your resume at all due to your format and won’t email you back asking to resend. Sometimes the company’s website will provide a guideline on how you should submit your resume, in which case you will want to follow their instructions. You will want print your resume, list of references and cover letter (if applicable) on resume paper and have a copy with you the day of your interview. Majority of the time, the employer has already printed off the copy you submitted online and will not need another, but it is always better to be prepared just in case. Just keep them in a folder or business journal for quick retrieval if they ask for another copy. If the company requires you to apply in person, be sure you are dressed the part when you are inquiring about a position and/or delivering your resume. Be sure to ask for the hiring manager, so you can personally speak with them and ensure your resume is left in the right hands. However, many companies are different and might instruct you to speak with someone else, in which case you will gladly do so. **Please note: the employer ALWAYS looks for an applicant that is interested specifically in their company. Being passionate about a company’s brand shows already that you are willing to invest your future with them and are likely to work much harder than someone “just looking for a job”. You DO NOT want to go door to door with a handful of resumes and pass them out. Same thing goes when asking for an application, don’t have an armful from the 10 others stores you visited first. You want to be seen as a future asset to the company and not a desperate person in need of a paycheck. PART II: PREPARING FOR AN INTERVIEW & WHAT TO EXPECTNight Before Prep:

Other questions you are likely to be asked:
**For follow-up questions, it is very obvious if you are asking questions just to ask them. You read this is every interview advice guide out there, “Always ask follow up questions”, in which a list of general questions to ask are usually provided. Rehearsing your memorized questions that usually don’t pertain to any of the information discussed in your interview is just a waste of time. You want to leave the interview feeling knowledgeable about everything in regards to your possible new job position, so use this time to ask any questions you have while you have the chance. Because once you leave that interview, you have to decide if you are going to accept or forgo this job opportunity. If you accept, do you know what is required of you and does this job fit within the means of your lifestyle? There isn’t a question too small to ask, as long as it’s a relatable question like where parking is located, for example. Your interview can take anywhere from minutes to an hour, depending on how formal/informal it is and/or if the company requires you to complete additional paperwork or personality assessments. If you are interviewing for a part-time retail sales position at a trendy women's clothing boutique for example, you can generally expect a 10-15 minute time frame. If you are interviewing for a full time position in management or high-level entry position, you can expect a longer time frame as well as a series of interviews. Many companies have a tiered interview process where you initially interview with a store manager, then possibly a field-specific manager and lastly the district manager. Depending on the position, the company and your initial interview, the interview process might be different than expected. Sometimes the manager in the initial interview might not be left with 100% confidence in your ability to fulfill the position in its entirety; therefore, a second interview might be required, most likely with a different format, to provide the missing information the employer is looking for from you. Different format could entail a more hands-on interview where you are instructed to work with product or role-play customer service situations, answer experience-specific questions or even have to bring in a portfolio to discuss your qualifications and/or experience more in depth. So basically, anything can happen, but don’t be quick to judge your outcome. Highly prized individuals might get 3 interviews, not to necessarily determine if they are qualified for the position, but rather the employer might be seeing if they can offer you a higher position than you are applying for. You just never know. As long as you stay positive and confident, you will ultimately find a job that is perfect for you that you can thrive in! Best of luck!
